“Gulf of Maine fishermen catch a break”

As expected, the New England Fishery Management Council yesterday recommended interim action to reduce Gulf of Maine cod catch limits, but only moderately so. Also some interesting suggestions to keep the scientists here at the Northeast Fishery Science Center busy for another year or so.


PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – Federal fish regulators found a middle ground Wednesday that they hoped would avert a complete shutdown of fishing in the Gulf of Maine and keep as many fishermen in business as is possible this year.
